"Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass." -Anton Chekhov
Light is both tangible and ephemeral. As a visual artist who learned my craft in the intense light of the African sun, I discovered early on how it influences the stories I tell in my paintings; how it sets tone, creates atmosphere, defines shape and captures the spirit. Throughout my career, I have explored light's dynamic effect on my palette and on my subject matter in a variety of media; pencil, pen, ink, watercolor and acrylic paint. Since moving to New England, I have been inspired by the shifting light of my new home, particularly on the restful beaches of Cape Cod.
A selection of my most recent paintings in acrylic on canvas are currently on display in the Geary Gallery in Darien, CT.
